how to build a lowland\highland terrarium

Hi all I want to get some more info before I start a large terrarium.

So lets start at the basics how would you design a lowland nepenthes terrarium.

How about a highland terrarium.

also how do you heat one. these are the ways I know of let me know if there are more.

1. a water heater in water at the bottem of the terrarium.

2.heat from the light.

3.a heating pad.

I rilly would like anybodies responses right now. even if your not that experienced. I am taking every bodies ideas and putting them together.

There is a new product called a "heat emitter". You can find them for sale at www.reptileuv.com - some other sources sell the same exact product for roughly the same price. I'd go with ReptileUV though - I've bought from them and they have great customer service. Basically the emitter uses a heating coil in a glass reflector covered by a screen (looks like a light bulb). Their surface temperature doesn't get nearly as hot as a ceramic heat emitter and they're also more efficient. Supposedly for only 60 watts of power they put out as much heat as a 160 watt ceramic heat emitter (that's using the emitter in a reflector dome). I would hook the emitter up to a thermostat to make sure you keep a steady temperature.

I just googled heating a terrarium.

There are also ceramic heaters.

Hi I don't think the heat emitter is going to work on a lowland terrarium wont it crack with the high humidity.

If i were building a massive lowlander, i would have a pool of water at the bottom, in which i would drop a aquarium heater (which are, like, twenty bucks) and crank it all the way up. Most have an automatic shut-off when the water drops below a certain level, so no worries about fire there. If you place it in a warmer part of your home, and with the lights.... it could work. That's how i'd do it, anyway.
