so im thinking of getting into pings. but i want something that looks cool, not just big stupid floppy looking leaves. maybe something that looks good in large clumps with some nice color. and/or maybe one that can withstand a good freeze now and then i dont know. any suggestions?

Indoor options and/or greenhouse options are wider than outdoor. Outdoor depends on what you call a good freeze. Your profile doesn't show where you are on Mother Earth and a good freeze in say The Netherlands is somewhat different then one in Alaska.

oh yeah and im not REALLY looking for any specific ones that can withstand " a good freeze". it would just be a bonus since i keep all my vft and sars outside and i have limited space for my nepenthes

oops, well im in oregon usa. zone 8 i guess. it doesnt really get below 25F here.... Pinguicula macroceras ssp. nortensis is growing native in southern Oregon. So this one should do well in Oregon outdoors. Other recommendations would be: - Pinguicula vulgaris (not very different from P. macroceras ssp. nortensis) - Pinguicula grandiflora Cold growing Pinguicula will be flowering from Mai until August at most. So most time of the year you will have just leaves or hibernacula. i want something that looks cool Perhaps you'd better not expect too much of a "cool look": When kept outdoors, the leaves of Pings will be covered with insects, already dead or wrestling for life or death. Some people with a weak stomach might tend to bring up food while watching such plants. So be aware: If "cool look" means to you "dead, black insects on green leaves", you get a "cool look". Otherwise not, maybe.

P. vallisnerifolia has a nice long leaf and will grow outside at those temperatures. The hybrid 'Rio Ara' has some nice color on it's leaf, just like some forms of alpina and grandiflora.
For the greenhouse or windowsill I would say gypsicola, cyclosecta, pilosa, heterophylla, medusina etc. Nice shapes or color.

I just got a P. 'Florian' and it is the cutest thing ever, and i love it. It is a mexican, though, so it'd need to stay inside with those nepenthes, but i highly recommend it. As a hybrid, i'm under the impression it will be easier to care for.

Pinguicula 'Florian' is a cross from P.debertiana x P. esseriana
