Hey folks,
I was mowing the yard, this morning, and a guy in an old pickup truck pulled up and walked over to me. He asked if I was going to divide my plants any time soon. I told him that I probably would sometime in February.
I asked him if he knew much about bog gardens, and he said "No.", but that he had seen the plants in bloom during the spring, and that he was interested in trying to grow them, himself. I explained about the specific needs of pitcher plants and such, and asked where he thought he would try to grow them. He said he had a pond out in the country, and wondered if planting them next to the pond would work. Sounded good to me. I warned him about fertilizer, and I think he understood.
Anyway, I told him to contact me in February, and maybe I'd have some divisions for him.
I just thought it was interesting how having a bog garden in my front yard on a busy street could attract so much attention. Remember a couple of years ago, when I had three or four separate occasions where plants were jerked out of the ground for no good reason (that I could figure out)? Now that I have a fence with a locked gate, the curious can only look...
