Hello,
In my opinion, an RO unit just can't be beat and is the best way to go if you plan on being serious and long-standing about your hobby.
If you don't have many plants now....you will, trust me! A wide selection are available on Ebay and are reasonably priced. Just type in "RO unit". I've been using one by Water General for years that's excellent and keeps my water at .07 to .09 TDS. Then, filiter replacement only costs about 20 bucks a year!
Happy Growing, Brian.

Hello,
Yes. Make sure you buy a model that offers a garden hose adapter then. That's what I have and it stays hooked up year-round outside, next to the greenhouse.
Brian.
