Has anyone here ever ordered Dionaea from overseas? If so, what are the details of the process?
I'm ordering some in vitro cultures of Dionaea. I've researched and discovered that a CITES certificate isn't needed for sterile cultures of Dionaea, but I think that a phytosanitary certificate is required. If anyone knows for sure that it isn't, please let me know.
Either way, I'd like to know how ordering plants shipped to the US with a phytosanitary certificate works. Do the plants need to be sent to an inspection station, inspected, and then shipped onto me? Or can the shipper simply address the package to me and put the phytosanitary certificate in the box?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Travis is probably the best one to answer this.
It is my understanding if the plants are shipped still in the flasks that all it means is that you do not have to obtain the Plant Protection and Quarantine Permit 621 for Importing/Exporting Restricted Plants. There should be a Certificate of Artificial Propagation included. All other import restrictions should still apply.
You probably still need to obtain PPQ permit 587 for Importing Plants or Plant products.
The plants will still have to be inspected before they can enter the US. Which most likely means a Phytosanitary Certificate is required.
I would contact the CITES PPQ Inspector in NC which handles Dionaea to find out what you need in terms of permits and shipping:

Ok, I got an answer to this. I finally got a hold of someone at the USDA/APHIS office in Riverdale, MD.
The phyto is needed, but nothing else. If you're importing more than 12 plants, you need the PPQ 587, but I'm not planning on bringing in more than 12.
Turns out I'm not likely going to place the order after all because of the high cost, but if I were, I would contact Darlene. Thanks for the information NaN.
