Welcome at the forum. Beside our (my wife Irmgard and I) CP collection we have also two Lophophora williamsii growing at our balcony during summer. What is the difference between your two types?

shartmeyer the difference is barely noticable if at all but i know that one is Lophophora williamsii var San Antonio and the other is just plain Lophophora williamsii. but there are a bunch of different varieties so some must look different. mine are not very old either about 3 yrs I have some seedlings of both types and the San Antonio looks more oblong and the plain willi is more round.

Hi from Perth locko,
Sounds like you've got quite a good collection there.
Are you able to post a photo of your lophorophora as I've not heard of these plants so I don't know what they look like.
I take it they are carnivorous.
Dave.

Actually far from it, Wadave. L. Williamsii is peyote.

Do they grow at all? I can't see any difference between two and three year. What size can they get?

It can take about 30 years in the wild to reach the size of a golf ball, excluding the root.

your exactly right they get a bit bigger when in cultivation and you can graft them on another cactus so they grow huge but then there is no mescaline in the plant.

lol no wadave they use bluse agave and other types of agave in the making of tequila first the wait about till the plant is about 10 years old then the shave all of its leaves off and roast it in a giant oven then the very sweet potatoe tasting like giant pinapple looking plant is boiled then left to ferment........... me personally i prefer to eat the agave after its been cooked rather then making it into tequila but i do have to say that me favorite alcohol is tequila....lol however i dont like it when they put the worm in it
