Hi- Diane here - I'm a new member and would like input. I work for a development company and I am the Env. Manager for the project. I will be restoring approx. 200 acres of bog habitat from a planted slash pine system to a wet savanna/prairie. Hydrology is established. I've had the area timbered last summer, roller chopped and am preparing to burn this winter. There are tons of Sarracenia - mostly flava and leucophylla - I haven't found any rubra (not in our range)- but the sarracenia seems to be hybridizing to a brilliant bronze color. There are also several species of Drosera, including filliformis on site, plus numerous other wetland flowers. I'd like to restore this area to a 'world class' site where people would come to view the area. I'll planning a boardwalk system with a scenic overlook - maybe an elevated tower. It's also a great birding area. Anyone interested in talking with me about how to make the project better/more interesting/ contacts?

Hey Diane, I'd encourage you to contact the following: Phil Sheridan, www.pitcherplant.org/Crosby Arboretum, www.crosbyarboretum.msstate.edu/index.phpRon Determann, Atlanta Botanical Garden, www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org/They've all got various types of experience on bog reconstruction, etc. You might also want to contact The Nature Conservancy in Florida, (407) 682-3664, and ask to talk to who might be involved in wetland mitigation management or restoration. Cheers Barry

Hello diane, Welcome to the forum! If you haven't been to the USF Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants site it would be a great tool for you to use on your project. It can be found at www.plantatlas.usf.edu Combined with the experienced connections Barry gave you, your project has great starting potential! Take care, Steven Stewart
