Hello, I have recentely obtained my first butterworts(gigantea and moranensis "vera cruz") at the BACPS summer show and am very excited. Especially about the gigantea, which I have always been intrested in, but unable to accuire. Anyways, I have both of them growing outside here in Novato, CA and I'm not exactly sure as to what to do with them as summer will be ending shortly, and the night temperatures are already in the high 40's. As I understand they won't survive a california winter. correct? I want to bring them inside, put them in a semi-sunny windowsill and dry out( ), but don't know when (or if that's even the right thing to do). They look pretty good, as the newest leaf of the gigantea has continued to grow since I got it about 3 weeks ago. Will someone with expierience with pings please suggest an end to my concerns. I would appreciate it. Thanks. Matt

I live a couple hundred miles north of you (in Arcata) and grow those and similar Pings in an unheated greenhouse. It is not uncommon for the winter temps in my greenhouse get slightly below freezing. The Pings do just fine under these conditions.
