I have noticed a mould/fungus in a couple of my pots. It appears as white spots of around 1mm or less in size on top of the media. At the moment it is just an odd spot but I imagine it could increased in density to be rather more substantial!
Have people seen something similar on their media? I am not sure if it has come from the media (i.e. a spore or similar) or if it has arisen from poor cultivation (lack of air circulation and poor light). Depending on how it originated, I guess will depend on the treatment.
Should I treat with a fungicide or just increase light and air circulation? Thanks in advance.

Matt,
It would be best if you could post a photograph, but I have seen slime mould that was white in color grow on peat based media. I have always been able to control it by loosening the surface of the soil a little, or simply removing the spot of fungus. Fungicides are for more serious problems, in my opinion. I rarely use a fungicide as a preventative measure, with a few exceptions.
Take care, Steven Stewart
