Help! Plants dying....need info

fyi this is my first year where i am really trying to grow carnivorous plants.

Ok so recently I purchased a bunch of carnivorous plants. Varying from aldrovanda, drosera, pings, nepenthes, to utricularia.

I have been growing them in my room with my window open so that they would get plenty of light but now that we are in summer the heat is way to high. I tried to grow my plants outside however it just burned most of my plants and killed some. So now they are growing in my room again under regular lights however i know that those reqular lights don't help any but for allowing people to see the plants. Now to top it off the new plants that i bought like humidity i guess. So some of them are slowly dying away because they dont have proper lighting and or proper watering/humidity.....lol maybe i should have started a little slower but i figured i could do it....guess not

so if any one could give me tips on lighting, watering, humidity, and other growing conditions for these plants much would be appreciated.


i really good with the utricularia and they were growing fine until i tried to put them outside......so i put them back to where they were but they still arent doing good

Looks to me like it might be Nepenthes gracilis. I'm no expert on Nephs though. You may want to get 2nd, 3rd and even 4th opinions.

well i went to the leilani nepenthes forum also and they are saying it is a ventrata.....

Theres no way its a ventrata, it is not red enough.

Radjess, that is an N. x ventrata. It's distinct and you can't ID one wrong unless it's very immature and amorphic. It's like IDing an N. ampullaria. Nothing else looks like it. N. gracilis looks completely different. www.uni-essen.de/botanik/carniv/Nepenthes_gracilis.jpg

Don't make identifications based based on color alone, aqwgaupp. There is no way that is anything but N. x ventrata. If you'll re-read what he said, he said "now" it gets plenty of light, meaning it didn't before, and it's a washed out picture anyway.

Thank you clint. I really should study my neps as so that I can identify them easier. However me being mostly a generic cp lover i will stick with learning all the utrics by heart then the pings and neps at the same time. I know the common plants already I just have no idea when it comes to neps......

I didn't thought it got more generic and common that that The best way to learn is by drooling over pictures, and the best place to do that is the CP photo finder.

yeah usually i read every single post that has pics in it so i can learn the names of the plants.....however knowing the names and knowing the plants is two different things lol
