I will attempt to make this thread a progressive gallery of the plants in my front yard bog garden. It contains non-carnivorous plants as well (some orchid species), but I will post only carnivorous plant photos in this thread to keep with the mission of this site. If you wish to see the orchid species as they bloom, just click on the gallery link at the bottom. I Hope you will enjoy the images through out this growing season. S. flava var. flava S. flava var. cuprea The entire gallery can be accessed via this link: www.pbase.com/jimfowler/frontyardboggarden

I just had to include a couple of images of my bog garden's Grass Pink orchids. I'd highly recommend them for any bog garden - they're easy to grow, look great, and seem to multiply exponentially. Calopogon tuberosus (Grass Pink)

Absolutely gorgeous! Calapogon tuberosus and Calapogon pallidus are two of my favorite bog orchids. They nicely compliment any CP garden or collection. Looking good... Happy Growing, Brian.

Hey cpsinatl,
I planted five of them four years ago. Look like I'm going to have to thin them out a bit. I'll probably move some of them to other areas of the bog garden. I also have several dozen pure white ones, as well, but they bloom a full month later. I don't know what difference it makes, but mye plants have about seven hours of full sun.

This will be the last post of the bog garden for a while. While I was on vacation last week, vandals struck and removed the clump of Calopogon tuberosus that bloomed so well last week. I guess the plants were just too attractive for their own good. Ironically, they left five plants -- the same number I began with four years ago... Needless to say, I'm in a bit of a funk over this... A hole where Calopogon once grew Sarracenia minor - a few days past peak bloom

Hey Jim,
I feel your pain! Several years ago people, even local police would walk into this site where I farm my Aldrovanda and ask me "what I was doing, or looking for" and being the honest and trusting soul, I told them all about Aldrovanda and Utricularia. The following weeks I noticed a drastic reduction of those plants in my pond.
Since then, I respond to those very same questions by answering that I'm removing dangerous leaches and other parasites from this site, and warn those people to stay far away until these creatures have been eliminated!
LOL, it seems to keep those poachers and vandals at bay!

Jim, Great bog garden - thanks for sharing! A few questions & a request:
- how old is the bog? - what did you use for media? - how deep is it? - could you show us a larger pic of the bog to get an idea of the scale and how it sits in your front yard?
