Interesting to see this being done. There was actually a famous restoration controversy in Illinois some years back. It was such a spectacular failure of public relations that it has become a textbook case on restoration efforts gone bad. I've even lectured on the controversy at UC Davis.
That being said, I'm not sure where this area is. I've visited CP sites in Illinois in McHenry and Lake County, but not anything in Kane County. Hmmm.

P.S. I'm confused by the article, anyway. While buckthorn (Ramnus sp.) is certainly non-native in the area, boxelder (Acer negundo) is, I believe, a local native....
