The ICPS distributes (under permit) seeds of plants with certain legal distribution restrictions. Let's discuss the restrictions here so we know what's legal!

Within the USA, the following species are listed as Endangered: Sarracenia alabamensis Sarracenia jonesii Sarracenia oreophila
and the following species are listed as Threatened (a less-imperiled ranking) Pinguicula ionanthaIt is ICPS policy NOT to distribute seeds of wild collected plants that are listed on the ICPS's "Imperiled Carnivorous Plant Species List". Seed bank seeds of such species must be from cultivated sources. This list is on line at: www.carnivorousplants.org/statements/seedcollect.htmlCheers Barry

Hi Barry,
I had a question involving the collection of nepenthes cuttings and seeds, what restrictions are there and is there a list of the endangered species of nepenthes on the forum?
Thanks, misunderstoodbob

Collecting any type of material from Nepenthes whatsoever has been illegal in Indonesia since 1999...as for other areas, I have no clue.

Hey, I don't know about collecting laws. As you know, Nepenthes species occur in many countries, and the laws no doubt vary from place to place. I created a list of imperiled carnivorous plant species a few years ago; this list was posted at: www.carnivorousplants.org/statements/seedcollect.htmland it includes the following NepenthesNepenthes aristolochioides Jebb & Cheek: Note A Nepenthes bellii Kondo: Note A Nepenthes boschiana Korth.: Note A Nepenthes burbidgeae Hook.f. ex Burb.: Note A Nepenthes campanulata Kurata: Note C Nepenthes clipeata Danser: Note A Nepenthes dubia Danser: Note A Nepenthes gracillima Ridl.: Note A Nepenthes lavicola Wistuba & Rischer: Note A Nepenthes macrophylla (Marabini) Jebb & Cheek: Note A Nepenthes masoalensis Schmid-Hollinger: Note A Nepenthes murudensis Culham ex M. Jebb & M. Cheek: Note A Nepenthes paniculata Danser: Note A Nepenthes pilosa Danser: Note A Nepenthes rajah Hook. f.: Note A Nepenthes talangensis J. Nerz & A. Wistuba: Note A Nepenthes truncata Macfarlane: Note A

Thanks so much Barry. Now I know which species to aim my focus on growing skills, so hopefully I'll be able to help more towards their survival.
