a little off topic but i dont know where else to put it. I bought a bag of peat moss a month ago and i didnt use all of it so i stored it. Now there are these yellow dots growing on it, is that fungus

Possibly. However, if the yellow dots are between 6.35 cm and 6.67 cm. in diameter, they might be tennis balls. ;D

I have seen yellow mushrooms in some of our peat based mixes. They start out as yellow dots and eventually form a small cap. It has happened with bags that have gotten wet. The mushrooms pop out of holes in the bags.

I sometimes have little white strands of mold growing in my bag when a little water accidentally drips in, but I've never had yellow things grow in there.

i know this is dredging up an old thread, but i'll post a pic of the beautiful yellow fruiting body of a fungus that I just found two days ago growing in my large bag of NZ peat. It really is a nice colour *writes note to self to actually remember to do this now*
