I never usually let any of my plants flower but I decided to let my Drosera dielsiana flower because I was hoping for some seed so this is my first time. Before I went to bed I looked at one of the developing flowers and it looked ready to open so was expecting something in the morning or at the end of the day. In the morning I checked it and too my dismay the flower looked shrivled and dead. What happened? not enough sun, too much sun, not enough heat/humidity or did it already come and go which I doubt.

Flowers of most Drosera remain open for only a few hours. I find it is usually from late morning to early afternoon. You probably just were not looking at the right moment in time. There are plenty more flowers on the scape. Maybe you'll get to see some of the others.

The flowers were actually burning from the sun (probably because of the glass magnifying the light?) But I fixed the problem early on by shadeing the flower scape. The flowers barley last 2 hours so took me a while to get a photo.

lol! I have dielsiana growig like weeds. Mine has flowerd like 5 times already in the past 3 months. And its the same plant. lol! I have been looking for ppl to give the seeds away. They are weeds among my VFT seedlings...so I remove them as they can suffocate VFT's. I guess I can confidently say this is one plant that thrives with me . lol! even though I am not too much of a drosera fan 3 months ago: in between there was another stalk... this is the third one..the one which is currently flowering. pic was taken yest IF ANYTHING IS beautiful but closes in like 3 hrs...its this one: a pygmy sundew hybrid: lakebadgerup

Well you beat me I had a pygmy and it screwed me around and then died. The flowers in your pic look really nice. I also have alot of problems with ping primaflora yours look great. Thanks for sharing the pictures. My dielsiana is probably 3-4 years old it has produced a heap of flowers but I cut them off straight away.

I got sick of cutting off stalks so I let them flower. lol!
Thats actually very very interesting...I am sorry to hear about your p.primuliflora issues...but...I have heard this from a few other ppl on terraforums and some people in my local province as well. This plant is like a weed in my collection as well. It buds off every where. I have been giving it away...but apparently my offshoots don't make it as the ping hates the transportation unpotted. especially as it has very very small roots. I give it no attention. It just grows on its own. I have like castaways in every single dionaea pot of mine.
About the pygmy...if u notice...a stamen is missing. I tried cross pollination but it didn't work. lol! too small. lol

BTW....can someone identify that "GRASS LIKE plant" in the pot. It grows very very slow. it seems very very picky...but this is the only big one I have. It took like 6 months to grow like that. its like a rosette form...all those leaves from one base. As u can see its pretty tall. I like it a lot. But its soo strange. Very very thin grass-like. almost like a green needle of grass which is like 8 inches tall.

Probably a Sedge. Get rid of it while you still can. Given time it will take over the entire pot and fill it with a mass of roots.
