There are serverel distint forms of D capensis in circulation but very few locality plants. However, what is the origin of the various forms: all red, giant, alba etc? Are they from special locations in the wild or cultivars? And who selected them?

Other than the location plants, the most likely explanation is that the various forms simply arose in collections from scattered seed. The plant is a prolific seed-bearer to say the least.

Hi,
i am also very interested in D. capensis, especially in location forms. I am growing four location forms as well as four distinct forms without location. Interestingly, not all my forms produce a lot of seeds. One of them seems to be even selfsterile, while another seem to need polinated manualy.
As far as i know, the white-flowered form (cv. Albino) appeared in cultivation.
