Back in ~1985, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. J.C. Moore and explore significant stretches of the gulf coast for stands of Sarracenia w/ him. He was a real character and freely shared his extensive knowledge of these plants (as well as anecdotes / opinions of others in the CP world). He was not in great health at the time and after leaving the south in 1987, I lost touch w/ him.
I've always suspected that the hybrid, S. moorei, was named for him but have not come across that particular tidbit of information (although I can't say I really searched much either). Anyone care to confirm whether my assumption is accurate?

The name Sarracenia x moorei was published in the Gardeners Chronicle in 1874. The plant was named for a David Moore (director of Glasnevin Botanic Gardens). According to this page, the hybrid was bred at Glasnevin in 1868: www.botanicgardens.ie/history/history.htm
