Hi, A month ago I got my first heli (yeeah). So I potted it in a 1:1 LFS:perlite. However, after reading over and over again that helis don't like to be repotted and such, and that LFS tends to breakdown into a water logged goo, I was wondering if there is not a way to replace it by something else. I am thinking like lava rock - perlite and some peat as "binding agent". What do you think ? And as a bonus some pictures of my heliamphora minor a month ago and now 1 month ago : Now : As you can see it put out some new growth but I had to cut some pitcher which were already drying upon arrival.

Sphagnum does not break down into goo unless you bought a really crappy brand in the first place; that is the preferred soil component for Heliamphora, and peat would not be wise.
