Hi there, After having a fantastic time at the ICPS conference in London, I thought I'd post some photos of my windowsill grown u. Jamesoniana. Sorry in advance for the crappy mobile phone photos, using a very old galaxy s3, lol! U. Jamesoniana amuri is the first to open its flower And here's a photo of the Colombia tepui clone staying to expand its flower

Hi coline, Thank you very much. The Colombia clone is in pure nz lfs with a wick of sphag out the bottom of its container, that sits on an empty net put, in a tray of water The amuri come is in a mix of peat and coarse quartz sand The windowsill they're on is in the bathroom, the window is frosted glass and SE facing so gets sun from 5am till 1:30pm in the summer. The one with the Wick doesn't get watered til the tray is empty them I top water til the tray is full, the one in peat I just keep moist. Hope this helps a bit. Mark

Forgot to add that humidity is just ambient humidity in that room anything in between 40% to 90% when having a bath average would be around 60%, temps never really get over 27°c and that's in a heat wave and as low as 7°c in winter, I only heat the living room in my flat in winter. I grow all of my orchioides utrics on the bathroom windowsill, except alpina, I grow this on a living room windowsill just for a bit more heat, which has kicked it into flowering the first time this year, I have a larger one in the bathroom as well but hasn't flowered, so I will be moving it too the living room as well.

Interesting setup, so they like the direct sun then? I've seen praetermissa grows in full sun, and some few jamesoniana aswell, but most of the ones I see grow in kind of dark places of the forest with some sun now and then during the day

I think the frosted glass plays a big part in keeping the light intensity down, as I put newly acquired heli's on this windowsill then when I put them on the bedroom windowsill they colour up much better, both windowsills face exactly the same way SE. Also with them getting more morning sun than anything and me living in not so sunny or hot Edinburgh, Scotland. I'll post a pic when of the whole windowsill once I'm home tonight. That's really interesting to know you've observed them in the wild, thank you very much for the info!

Yes I have yet seen in the wild 3 or 4 of our 5 species in the wild. I may debate if I saw unifolia that day, but at least I've seen it in the botanical garden collected by a colleague. And counting those, I've seen all our orchidioides species, I lack on seing all other terrestrial and aquatic ones. And up to date my biggest moment of awe was discovering praetermissa. www.flickr.com/photos/61477502@N07/albums/72157656089731028

It's great that you have some of the most beautiful utricularia in your country, the plants and flowers you show in habitat are stunning especially love that jamesoniana flower! The purple stripe on the middle lobe is really nice! Thank you for sharing!
