I'm new here (and to growing CPs) and wondering how or if this forum works... I'm growing my one CP, a P. primuliflora, on plain sphagnum moss sitting in a saucer of water a little past the end of my fluorescent bulbs. I've been getting conflicting information: The people I got mine from don't give them any kind of winter but keep them growing on in a warm greenhouse. Others say they need at least a couple of months barely above freezing. I do understand they will need a "light cue" that a natural light greenhouse would give them but fluorescent lights won't unless I intervene, but will shortening and then lengthening the "day" length be enough or do they also need the colder weather? While I read they don't need humidity, I find mine perk up when the humidity gets high (rain today got it up to 70% and boy did they perk up) so I'm thinking it won't hurt to have my humidifier running. I'm also wondering about giving this particular kind a light spray of distilled water? D'Amato says yes, other places say no. They get lots of bugs, but after reading here, I'm going to get some of that soluble fertilizer for occasional use... I will be grateful for any feedback and/or advice! Thank you. Mother Raphaela
