Hey I just posted this on Terraforums and figured it would be a good idea to post it here as well:
"Hey I was just curious if anybody has any information/experience on starting a carnivorous plant society. I live in NY and I'm interested in perhaps starting one if there is enough interest. The New England CPS isn't exactly close and I figured other individual states have their own CPS so why not New York?! "

I think many New Yorkers consider the NECPS to be their local society. Even I'm a member!!!

There was a very small group in Western NY that met briefly. Probably not more than 3 or 4 people and probably less than half a dozen times. Check with jimscott on TerraForums.

There was once an attempt in the past for a NYC-area society... but I'll go with what Aidan said, the NECPS is a great society after all and I've been a member for nearly 10 yrs. The annual show is coming up in October, you should check it out!

I discovered NECPS by accident while in shcool in RI. I can't remember if it was the first or second plant show but i went every year i lived close enough to go. I bet it's even better today then it was back in 2004-2007ish and even then it was pretty amazing! I still have a plant i purchased from then growing today.
