Oh, what I do is I put about a centimeter of peat in the pot, spray some water, and repeat so that the moisture level is even.

Ok, I got the plant re-potted, into about a 5 inch deep pot with 1 part peat to 2 parts sand. I'm a little worried; the larger pitchers and leaves seem to have browned or died. the soil was wetter than i would have liked, but it did pour last night.

You shouldn't have left it outside when it was pouring rain, especially not with such a young plant so soon after getting it. Repotting is stressful, as is shipping, I personally would have kept it inside so as to better control the conditions for at least long enough for the plant to recover from shipping and repotting. I hope for your sake it bounces back, but it won't if it experiences more trauma.

yeah, I wasn't expecting it to rain last night, or i would have. I'll bring it in if it gets cloudy again.
I re-potted it today after it rain and i let it dry out some, if that makes it better or worse. I waas hoping the new soil would soak up some of the excess moisture.

I would just take it inside rather than risk unpredictable weather conditions, it is going to need a lot of attention and good conditions to get better.
