A brand new Genlisea I ordered arrived bruised and is now dying very rapidly, just dissolving away. Probably it is beyond hope... is this a frequent problem with the genus?

I've never encountered rotting Genlisea. I've had them stop growing and die back a little bit after flowering, but that's it.
What are your conditions? Temp, light, humidity, etc.

The plant seemed heavily bruised right out of the mail, so I divided it into some sections and placed them in several different terraria hoping that one or the other would survive. I don't think it's the growing conditions that account for the rot, but rather the trauma of shipping.

It probably was the shipping then, but spray some fungicide on it as a preventative measure and hope for the best

Sudden rot and death has been common with Genlisea for me in the past. I still can't explain what causes it but I had plants growing happily and blooming, then one day they rot and disappear and this happens very quickly.

What species? Some are annuals, others are very easy to transplant and seem to spread like weeds.
