I use organic cocopeat guaranteed salt free from inland sites, and mix with Moorland Gold and perlite for all my Sarracenia. I have been peat free for about 15 years now!
(Moorland Gold= a peat substitute not available outside the UK, where do you live?)

Hi! Actually, i never tried coco-peat, i always used moss-peat. Of course you can try, but you better do it with a strong and easy plant, dionea for example.

I agree that it is certainly a better source and sustainable, but can one claim to be Peat free if using this? I am just interested since I am also concerned about the Peat sustainability problem.

yes, sure it contains peat particles, and silt, sand etc, but not mined peat, so when I say "peat free" I mean not pure mined peat that has resulted in destruction of a fragile habitat, ie peat bogs.
perhaps it would be better to say I haven't bought a bag of moss peat in over 15 years ;D
