Greetings all, I was wondering what techniques you use to simulate brush-fires. IE how you do smoke treatments. I have some seeds I would like to start that require a smoke treatment and just wanted to swap notes with others.
[Edit] Oh, I should mention. I was thinking of trying something like soaking the seeds in a solution of like 1Tsp liquid smoke diluted in a cup of water for something around a day, then an overnight soak in a GA3 solution (500PPM at first then more if needed in subsequent attempts). End this by sowing on soil then burning some dry grass over the seeds and covering for some length of time.
Any thoughts?

I have recently employeed a technique of setting leaves and grass on fire, then dousing them with water. The resulting water is then poured across the soil surface, with seeds already in place, and appears to have helped my Byblis 'Goliath' x guehoi seeds to sprout.

Hey, I don't think I ever hit "Post Reply" on this one.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will be starting those seeds fairly soon- probably once I get through the manic busyness of this weekend. I will try your idea. (I am actually thinking of doing a side by side thing with multiple treatments)

Hi Coldcoffee - I cheat and use smoke disks. It has worked for me every time, and with no problems. Sure it's lazy, but that also means it's easy.
