Ok so I am in the middle of trying to germinate some Darlingtonia from seed and am having some difficulty. I stratified them for four weeks using peat/moisture/fridge and then sowed them in a 1:1 peat/perlite mixture under 16hrs of light from fluorescent bulbs (2 40 watt bulbs). It has been about 9 weeks and not a single one has sprouted yet. My question is do i need to use a longer stratification period? Should i use a different medium? Or do i just need to wait longer thanks

Personally, I have never gotten very good germ rates with Darlingtonia, but then again I have only tried a handful of times and I do not know how old the seed I used was. I used chopped sphagnum personally. You may have already seen this but just in case you have not, here is the Darlingtonia growing sheet on the ICPS website: www.carnivorousplants.org/howto/GrowingGuides/Darlingtonia.php
