Its either filifolia or lamellata. Sorry for the poor image quality...my camera is from WW2

I'd say it's almost certainly filifolia. It is certainly not Byblis lamellata. Byblis lamellata looks extremely similar to B gigantea, and, like the latter, is a perennial. It grows a little like a Drosera filiformis for the first few months of growth, eventually producing leaves several inches long before producing a stem. In my experience, both Byblis gigantea and lamellata begin to produce their stem at about the same time as the first flowers emerge. Byblis filifolia is variable, but always begins forming a stem as soon as it germinates. Byblis filifolia is an annual species, and most forms look a bit like a large Byblis liniflora, but with much larger flowers which must be hand pollinated with pollen obtained from a genetically different individual of the same species.

Greg

I have had some limited success with stem cuttings of this species. The method is a little drastic, though- cut off the growing point and stick it in the substrate!

Certainly looks like folifolia to me. Will you be able to post a photo of the flower when it opens?
Cheers,
Greg

Again its kind of blurry. My camera broke the other day because I tried to fix it the Russian way, and my cell phone doesn't have a macro function. The petals are a little curled because the flower is old, but it looks like Ca5 CoZ5, A4, G1
