I don't know if I am doing something wrong - but I have never managed to get any search results whatsoever on this forum? Even though I might search on keywords I have written in my own posts. Anyone having the same problem?

Yup, that was my experience too: zero searchability.

Agreed, in fact I think this entire forum software client/server sucks. Scrap the whole thing. Functionality is poor. You can't even look up messages that you have PMed to other members as I recall.
There has got to be a better solution out there IMHO. Better yet, we should write our own.

Concerning the PM area, have you tried your "outbox" where all of the PMs that you sent should be stored? Your outbox is the button in the blue area just above the messages. I have not tried the "backup messages" feature.

He he, oh yeah....
Step 1: Pick up foot Step 2: Insert into mouth Step 3: repeat
(wait, did I miss a step....) ' I do still dislike this client though, always have. I suppose I should not gripe unless I have a solution to suggest (WARNING: Logical fallacy eminent... Ok, its 1 am and I am rambling...)

There are better ways to distribute this but it takes more effort than my level of innate laziness allows. Any way to add a google search of this forum to the search bar on Firefox copy the following code into a text editor (Notepad/Wordpad) and save it as a file ICPS.xml in the searchplugins folder of FireFox. More on that later. You will have to edit out the square bracket URL and /URL tags that proboard is adding onto the urls in the code below. See the <image height and <SearchForm lines. <SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/" xmlns:os="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/"> <os:ShortName>ICPS Forum</os:ShortName> <os:Description>ICPS Forum</os:Description> <os:InputEncoding>UTF-8</os:InputEncoding> <Image height="16" width="16" type="image/x-icon">http://carnivorousplants.org/favicon.ico</Image> <SearchForm>http://www.google.com/search</SearchForm> <os:Url type="text/html" method="GET" template="http://www.google.com/search"> <os:Param name="sclient" value="psy"/> <os:Param name="hl" value="en"/> <os:Param name="safe" value="off"/> <os:Param name="client" value="firefox-a"/> <os:Param name="rls" value="org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial"/> <os:Param name="source" value="hp"/> <os:Param name="q" value="site:icps.proboards.com%20{searchTerms}"/> <os:Param name="btnG" value="Search"/> <os:Param name="aq" value="f"/> <os:Param name="aqi" value=""/> <os:Param name="aql" value=""/> <os:Param name="oq" value=""/> <os:Param name="pbx" value="1"/> </os:Url> </SearchPlugin> Restart FireFox and click on the icon with the down arrow on the search bar (upper right corner of Firefox). Pick "ICPS Forum" and type in your search words, e.g. Drosera capensis. The search engine should insert the string "site:icps.proboards.com " for you and submit this to Google. The follow helps and knowledge base articles will show you how to locate your Firefox profile folder on Windows. support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profileskb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_FirefoxIf you want to remove this engine either delete the ICPS.xml file from the searchplugins folder or click on the search bar icon and pick "manage search engines"

I put in the code for our own custom search rather than relying on Proboards. Please let me know if it breaks in the future.
Enjoy!

If you have trouble finding the Google custom Search button, it is at the very bottom of each page (not the ProBoards search button at the top in the blue box).

Thank you for all your replies!
May I suggest to either include a description on how to make a search on the "forum rules" thread or either have this thread made a "sticky"? It is fairly confusing as a new member to find informative posts when one can't perform a search (and the forum, just as with any other forum, asks you to do a search first).
