Is it safe to keep a Moctezumae in a terrarium during dormancy?

Yes, but you must reduce the Photoperiod and almost stop watering entirely while the plant is resting. It is also important to keep the temperature cool while dormant.

That should be OK. Just remember to keep it quite dry. Dormancy in Pings is triggered mostly by a "Dry/cool" season with reduced Photoperiod. Natural light will be fine, as long as you are in winter or entering winter.

for this species I have better result with a substrate always wet in dormancy.
for me the photoperiod is very very important for the dormancy .
for the temperate , the frost no induced the dormancy but rather the photoperiod ,at the moment 'in situ' ,they are or have already formed their hibernaculae, we are in our European regions not yet in winter with the frost , but day length decreases.
for the mexican the dry saison is a dormancy reason ,it seem to me , it is also the reason to have a succulent leaves ( moctezumae have not or not much succulent period like the others species)
'in situ' in mexico
dry period from november to may rain period from june to october
