This happened yesterday, the day before the leaves were green and lush and yesterday that started to blacken. The plants are outside in my bog bowl, which they have been in for two years without any problem. I live in upstate NY and we have been having some odd weather that has been dropping into the 50's at night. Then I thought maybe it could be a fungus...? I can't find any insects but that does not mean they are not there. I put some sulfur based product on them (which is why the plant may look like it has odd stuff on it in the picture) that is a insecticide, miticide, and fungicide...trying to cover all the bases. Anyone have any thoughts? -Thanks, Lilly Attachments:

I would think that it is fungus, has it rained on and off recently? There also appear to be a few trapless leaves and a leaf on the very bottom of the picture seem to be blackening.

Is that cream colored stuff in the middle the fungicide you used?
What are your growing conditions like(temp, changes in humidity, light, etc...)? You mentioned weird weather- drops to 50, that causes me to wondering if it is experiencing a premature dormancy, especially if it has been warmer all season.
Since you suspect fungus, did you see any mold-like stuff or other visible signs of fungus(not that it is always directly visible) and what is the watering like (you mentioned that this is an outdoor bog- drained pot or closed bottom?)

Oh sorry, just reread it and saw your comment about the "weird stuff" (insecticide, etc...) on it.

The bog bowl has drainage, I do feel like they may be getting too much water though, do to all the rain we are getting in New York. They are on the west side of my house and begin to get sun around eleven until sunset. Some of the leaves are a little disfigured which leaves me to think maybe aphids. I took some of the plants out and put them into a new pot so I can control the amount of water they get a little better.
I did not see any signs of fungus as of yet.

My initial reaction is that there could be too much moisture at the roots. If that is so your fix might be just the thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it recovered through producing several new growth points. 'Good luck, lilly7430.
