Hey folks,
In June, I am probably going to head to France for a few weeks with my lovely wife, in order to visit her mum in Paris. I do not expect to have too much control over my time, so I don't think I'll be travelling much out of Paris.
However, as compensation for visiting such CP-poor territory, we are expecting to take a quick side-trip to Portugal/Spain, land of the lovely Drosophyllum. I'll post more as developments develop.
I'd be happy to say hey to European CPers while I'm there, especially if you want to show me the sights in the field!

Hi Barry,
I'd be glad to meet you for a drink or more should you be interested to visit a French Cper collection. I live 2 hours from Paris, near Lille, in the northern part.
All the best,
François Mey.

Hello Barry and François
It's fun to read you here because I was about to post exactly the same type of message on this forum after reading your reply to my mail regarding my trip to New Orleans. I'd be very happy to pick you up at the airport and lead you where you want in Paris (I live 20 minutes from Paris). In June, we can also offer you to see sundew not far from Paris (30 min). The Dionée association (french cp association) will be delighted to facilitate your explorations of Paris and around. Between Paris and Portugal you can easily make stops to admire the PC in their habitat. I am sure that members of the association would be very happy to receive you on your way.
A little taste of France :

Hey kohleric and François
I will email you shortly. I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back--my teaching schedule has been hectic this semester. I am leaving tomorrow morning for Paris.
Briefly, my schedule is to fly to Paris, then after a few days, travel to Spain and Portugal on the 28th. I will then return to France on the 6th of June, and will be there until leaving on the 11th of June.
My time in France is not entirely my own to schedule. I am travelling with my wife, and am visiting her mother who lives in Paris. They are both artists, so I expect to see many museums while in Paris. However, I might be able to convince them to take a day in the field. It would be lovely!
I do not have contact information for my location there, but I should be able to monitor my emails. Ideally, email me at bamrice-at-ucdavis.com. (Replace the -at- with @.)
It would be fabulous to meet folks from Dionee. I have long been a big fan of your journal!
Cheers
Barry

Hey Folks,
I'm happy to say my trip to Europe was a great success. I had a lovely time in France, Portugal, and Spain. While I did not get to any CP sites in France, Portugal and Spain were both good to me.
I'd like to thank everyone who helped me prepare for this, and for being so understanding of my mercurial schedule. While I was sadly not able to connect with French CPers (although both sides tried very hard to make such a thing possible), I met several Portuguese CPers and had a great time in the field.
I'm currently editing my photographs. New to me is the addition of short video clips I can add to the trip reports. I'm not sure how much this will slow down my work, but I will try to be speedy with a trip report!
