Really, I'm fairly new to the CP growing community so I'm doing a lot of research. I've found a lot of articles on TC and it seems interesting although a little advanced for me right now. I think once I get the hang of growing CP's the old fashioned way, I would be interested in trying TC out.
What is the initial investment in the beginning? I am not thinking about going all out on building a laboratory. I am looking to spend as little money as possible yet still spend enough that I will get decent results.
Would it be possible to use sterilized glass containers like baby food jars instead of specially ordered petri dishes and test tubes and such? Would this have a negative effect on my efforts?
I've read about using a pressure cooker to sterilize, are there disadvantages to this?
From what I've gathered, it varies from plant to plant, but you will usually see visible results in a month or two, in six months you will have a strongly growing culture, around eight months in you transfer to regular cp mix and within a year to a year and a half you have a fully grown plant. does this seem accurate or is my information all jumbled?
How many plantlets can you expect to get from each explant? If you are using seeds can you expect only one plant from each seed or can you get multiples?
Considering the prices of agar, chemical sterilizers, parafilm, nutrients, and the like, what is the estimated cost per new plant formed?
If you have grown TC's, what was your initial failrate when you first started out? did you have four or five dud batches that were all overrun by strange bacterias that were NOT carnivorous plants, or did your efforts take off right away producing super awesome plants the first time?
Thanks, I know these questions are pretty basic, but I didn't know who better to ask.
