I recently purchased a Amorph. Konjac off e-bay. I'm not sure what I've been sold. All the foliage is purple fading to pink, stem and all. Also, along with it's foliage is a feather-duster like flower thing. Amorphophalus are supposed to be aroids with a spathe/spadix inflorescence. I'm truly confused.
Anyone have some info to bestow upon me?

the leaves are like that becouse where they grow naturally its time to go to sleep. just plant it and wait for the leaf to fall off and then put it in a bag it will come back and bloom next year.

Although it's my first Amorph, I've done a bit of reading. I understand that in the spring it sets off it's flower (arum) which lasts a short time then sets off a giant single leaf which looks like a palm or somesuch. This towards fall will die back and the process starts anew in spring. Furthermore, underground the year goes like this; the corm is planted with roots on top, roots spread rapidly, and over the season the corm shrinks greatly leaving a hole under the plant as it has spent it's energy producing the years foliage. By the end of the year the plant must regrow it's corm in essence, to store energy sufficient for next years growth.
I've looked through hundreds of photos online and never seen my plant. It started purple and has stayed purple with fading pink. The stem, and leaves and, and, and,... the feather duster looking flower(not an arum!!!) on top!?!
I wonder what I was sold.
