I think i have a problem...
2 days ago, i took cuttings for the first time from my Nepenthes and leaf pullings from my VFT. I treated them with a bit of rooting hormone, and put the Nepenthes cuttings in the soil, and the VFT pullings on the soil.
I put the pots with the cuttings in plastic bags for 1 day, but because it became so incredibly messy (my nepenthes was pretty big and never trimmed before) i bought a little green-house (sorry, i don't know hoe you exactly call such a thing in English... see the pic at the bottom of this story to see what I'm exactly talking about) this morning and put all the pots in it. And this is where the trouble started...
As far as i know, VFT love much, direct light, and Nepenthes like much, indirect light, so i build a little paper cover inside the greenhouse to ward off direct sunlight from the nepenthes cuttings, and left the VFT leaf pullings uncovered. This evening i discovered that i probably left my greenhouse in a very bad place. This afternoon had some very intense sun, and all the cuttings are partially brown and feel weak. This happened in 4-5 hours time, between 1 PM and 5 PM. After i discovered it, the sun was already gone, and all i could do was put them in a different place so that it will not catch that much sun tomorrow.
I don't think that the sun caused the direct damage to the cuttings, especially since the VFT should be fine in full sun (and the full grown plants are fine for example while they were in the same sun the whole day), but i think the temperature inside the greenhouse was just too much for the cuttings.
Did anyone experience anything like this? How did you handle it, and do you think the (cooked?) cuttings have any chance of survival, or should i throw them away?
I'm just lucky it were the cuttings, and not the main plants, but it still hurts to see them wither so quickly on this first time i tried it...
Any help for my cuttings-in-need or advise for the next time i can take cuttings is appreciated.
green-house?
