This is the first time I noticed the ability to "exalt or smite" someone in a forum. Personally, as I've seen a variety of conflicting personalities on the net over the years, and a fair amount of flaming and abuse of "power", I think this is a lousy idea. As an official ICPS forum, I'd expect this to be a relative neutral, friendly place where people share information, not a popularity contest for egotistical people. So how about we remove this feature? Matt

I think I agree with Matt on this. I wouldn't want the thrust of this forum to become who is most exhalted or smited (smitten ?? ). However there does need to be a way to address inappropriate behavior.

Good thought Matt. I am just learning on the job and have not yet worked out the rough edges. We absolutely want this to be a neutral and friendly place. We want to encourage vigorous discussion, but do not want to tolerate character assassination or flame wars. It would be nice if the administration and moderation of this forum did not require heavy-handed actions and that the participants respected one another and tolerated differing views.
EDIT: I think I have now disabled that feature. Was I successful?

We have it on the Ontario Carnivourous Plant Society and it either didn't work well or was sort of abused. Anyway it kind of got forgotten and seems sort of useless.
