Remember the Sarracenia alabamensis distribution project the ICPS did? How did that work? How are your plants? Should we do it again?

My plants are doing very well. We should definitively do it again. I have divided my plants numerous times and have sent mature plants to: alabamensis AL-001 -- 5 growers alabamensis AL-002 -- 6 growers alabamensis AL-AL-03 -- 7 growers jonesii UCD B2001.073 -- 5 growers

Hey Bob,
Cool on the divisions. BTW, the site AL-AL-03 is the same as AL-003. I had originally coded the tags AL-AL-0# to indicate:
Alabama-S. alabamensis-site#.
But then I figured that this would become a mess in the future if we wanted to use it to indication multi-species sites. I prefer the simpler AL-001, AL-002, AL-003 system now, where the AL merely indicates Alabama.

droseraguy is brave. i was just going to say that its not very likely that people who killed them are going to speak up, out of embarrassment. but some people have no shame!

I have all of them, Thank You, Barry, and they are all flowering at this time. I like the Al-003 red one. Very nice!

I recieved AL-003 from Bobz about two years ago.I'm sad to say it died along with some other prized plants from rot.I would be happy to try again because I have a nice sized bog and have not had any plants rot in this setup.I have S.leuco seedlings from the Crestveiw Radio Tower site that I will be sending to people once they get big enough, probably next summer.

I never got these from the ICPS but a friend of mine gave me a S. alabamensis AL-005 last fall it was not doing great at the time but it looks like it is coming up nicely.

There is no such designation yet. The code number refers to a site, not a clone or anything like that. We've only distributed plants from AL-001, AL002, AL003. If we get around to distributing plants from other Alabama sites so we need to define an AL-004 or AL-005, your plant will confuse folks into thinking it's from a site it is not. Cheers Barry

Sorry about that I just went and looked at the tag again and someone’s 3 looked more like a 5 to me but it is definitely AL003.

Sounds like a brilliant idea to me.Are you talking of spreading these rare plants within the us or globaly?
