Hi All, Just thought I'd post a pic of some of the Virginia Longleaf Pine seedlings that will eventually be planted out in Meadowview's Joseph Pines Preserve. These are in the 'grass' stage right now, called that for obvious reason. After visiting the preserve a few weeks ago I have such a respect for these little guys- true best friend companions of S. purp and flava in Southern Virginia. Man, can't beat the landscape of a Longleaf/pitcher plant savanna- keep a close eye out for upcoming photos of the preserve- it will soon be the only place to see S. flava in its northern limit- when the remaining two populations go we will have a living archive. So, until physicists say that time travel using the energy of a moderate sized star is possible, this is as good as it gets. So give these little tykes a cheer as the Longleaf lights the way at Meadowview. Enjoy, Nick 'bluesboy'
