I can understand why one would be upset of course, Im just trying to offer a reminder to maybe help dampen the blow for anyone who was just banking on the "snipe". It would suck I really do feel bad... becuase if i waited all that time for the final day. I'd be a fairly pissed off individual. Talk about awful terrible timing...
sorry all, hopefully things will be worked out so everyone is as happy as possible

Glad to know it's not my internet connection. I've been having problems with web sites not responding (like Crimson Dark, a web comic) after I've been on them a while. I was afraid that now it was TF. Hey!! I might have actually one some of Andrew's hot sauce this year!

I'm just glad nobody (I hope) was able to "snipe" those Sex in the City DVDs! lol. After all my efforts, I wasn't able to get anything big for myself because of the crash; but oh well, alls fair in love and war and bidding...
I would assume that Andrew is getting bombarded by emails and IMs and stuff, so everyone try and remain calm and not bust his chops too much as I know his working tirelessly with the server techs to get the job done.

I was hoping get an item or two at the last minute as well. At around 9:54 PM here, I couldn't get through, so I didn't get anything either and there was LOT of great stuff there.
I wonder how much more the auction would have made if all the folks waiting until the end had been able to snipe and push up their bids!
I was wondering how much the Hummer's Giant and NECPS posters I donated brought in for the NASC?

WildBill,
As I recall, the 'Hummer's Giant' fetched a $250 price tag, and I think the posters might have been around $60... I'm positive about the former, and not so positive of the latter. Both wonderful donations, whoever the winners were!

Wanted and had the money to bid on them are too different things. I would have loved to have them.

You want to talk about a bummer.......Mom (Barracuda45) and I were huddled as close to the computer as we could get without sitting on top of it with about 100 tabs open waiting to bid..... ;D ;D.....and what do I get when I tried to bid on A LOT of items......this is what I got: Oops! We can't find the webpage you're looking for Here are some suggestions: Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's internet connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that your browser is permitted to access the Web. ....and then this..... The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. I think that between the two of us there was NO shortage of choice phrases! ;D It is a sad thing though because I feel that with as many people that had the same idea as us with the whole "snipe" thing that a lot of items would have fetched a much higher bid donation for the charity. I am glad, however, that there were as many things to bid on this year and that it is all going to a great and worthy cause. I am very interested to know how much was raised this year as every penny is more than worth it. I also hope that Andrew is able to get the site back up and running soon as I look forward to logging on everyday to learn as much as I can from all you great people.

A few choice words would have been said even had the site not gone down. The default flood control on vBulletin is 30 seconds so you have to wait 30 seconds between message posts (PMs as well).
It would have taken a minimum of 50 minutes to post 100 messages.
Regardless I hope no one is blaming Andrew. These things happen. The NASC site was down for a while because of service issues.

Terraforums is now working again. Everyone now should have access to view the auction listings and see who won and how much was spent on each item.
Thanks for your patience.

Yeah, I did the number for the Hummer's Giant and a VFT B-52 (I managed to screw up a bid --underbid -- against Jeff Matheson just before the crash and was unable to correct it for a second plant). The remainder of my rebate check from "Dubya" went for plants and charity this year . . . Could have been far worse . . . Also the NASC is a great charity. I spent a bit of my childhood in New Jersey near the barrens and i was unbelievably shocked to see how much wetland has gone to Wal-Mart . . .

Why thank you. Everyone worked hard on it. We've had glitches but its almost impossible not to! We do try though. Everyone on the NASC Board has other "life duties" to attend to but they give up the time to work for things like this. Sooo....NASC BOARD...
