Hi All,
At this exact moment I write to you not from my computer in Philadelphia where I live, but down in the otherworldly place of Virginia
Anyway, the upshot is- I know I started a thread on this board documenting my internship here at Meadowview in the summer of 2007; I still intend to complete that.
However, I'm right here at Meadowview, now 2008, so I figured I'd document what I'm doing right now, and save the past for later
Anyway, my intention with these posts is to create a new thread every day, with really nice photos, and to take on a different aspect each day of something really cool that either I've done, or that is going on at Meadowview, and talk about it a bit. So do keep an eye on the the Meadowview forum, since you'll get some Sarracenia, et al. eye candy every day. Oh, and also please chime in on the thread-tell me what you think, etc.
What I hope to do is try to show the tip of the iceberg of what's going on at Meadowview- there's just so much going on I'll try to stick to some things I find interesting from day to day.
Also, by doing this, I hope to encourage anyone interested in these plants who want to be able to see the "as rare as they come" Sarracenia, etc., to consider talking to Phil, and see about pursuing either volunteering, finding out more about Meadowview's Membership, or even interning; this is the largest and most diverse collection of Sarracenia I'm aware of, and the more people helping the better! There's a lot of plants to take care of here! I'm having a blast anyway, and am very anxious to see the response from ICPS forum members regarding my ensuing posts. Much of the plant material that I'll post is found no where else. Strap on your seatbelt and enjoy, best, Nick 'bluesboy'
oh, btw, if you haven't come to Meadowview's website yet, even though it's been posted avidly, the address anyway is
www.pitcherplant.org
