Hi I started growing CPs about 15 years ago and had to stop, because when I moved there really was no place to grow them. About three and a half years ago I moved to a new house and have since taken up the hobby again, though it seems more like an addiction at this point. I currently have an outdoor bog garden, and a bunch of Nepenthes growing quite nicely on my kitchen windowsill. I am just starting a terrarium for my fussier plants Would love to chat with other New Yorkers (and everyone else), and am thinking of starting a local CP club.

Howdy Nicole, I live on Long Island. Schloaty lives upstate and was thinking of having local growers meetings at his greenhouse on occasion and I've noticed alotta other New Yorkers here and there on the forums. It would be great to get everyone together to hang and whatever. Also I'm a member of the New England Carnivorous Plant Society, can't make it to Rhode Island too often, but I try and make a few meetings a year like the X-mas meeting, definitely the show which no NYer or anyone who lives in the North East should miss and there'll be a BBQ at the Black Jungle greenhouse this Summer. I'll definitely make that as well! How far upstate are ya?

I too am from upstate New York. I am currently a senior in Horticulture at Cornell. I have been growing CP's since freashman year. I mostly like to grow things from seed because it is more challenging than just buying grown plants.

Hi quogue
I met Schloaty at the last NECPS show in October. I actaully have written him and been talking to Sundew Matt -- also from Lon Guyland, about the possibility of a NYCPS. Still Just talking
I didn't know about the Black Jungle BBQ, but unless it conflicts with something else I will most likely be going. I am actually in that area pretty frequently, like this weekend, for example and visit them whenever I can.
I am thinking about joining NECPS, I guess I am just not sure it is worth it. I am on the e-mail list though, and as I said I went to the show - for the first time last year, and will most likely go again this year.
And finally, I live a little north of New Paltz, or if you perfer a little south of Kingston, or 20 miles west of Poughkeepsie, or 90 miles or so north of NYC -- if all that doesn't give you an idea of where I am then you are just going to have to google map Rosendale NY

Hi Magnum
You are a little farther north than I am. I have failed SO miserably at germinating seeds, the only way I can get plants is to buy them -- LOL But hope springs eternal and I am getting ready to try again -- I'll let you know
