Nice to see the ICPS join the modern age with a Forum, a fantastic idea and one I hope I can contribute to more regularly than the Listserve.
I live in in the UK and have been growing CPs for about 25 years; I grow a bit of everything, but my main interests are in Pinguicula, Drosera and Nepenthes. You can get a brief over-view of my collection and growing conditions at 'A World of Pinguicula' www.pinguicula.org/pages/culture/Vic_Brown.htm. The photos are a couple of years old and things are a little more crowded now!
I serve on the Committee of the UK-based society, 'The Carnivorous Plant Society' (CPS) where I am the Meetings Organizer, organizing formal meetings and open days at members homes. I'm also a member of the ICPS and have attended the last two Conferences (Lyon & Frostburg), so my ugly mush is probably known to some of you!
I've also been a moderator on the CPUK Forum since 2002.
I enjoy 'competitive gardening', having helped the CPS with their display at Chelsea Flower Show for several years, and last year I helped Rob Cantley and Diana Williams build Borneo Exotic's Gold Medal-winning display. I'm helping out again this year.
I trained as an insect ecologist, but now I'm a house husband/homemaker, looking after my two kids, labrador, home and of course there is plenty of spare time left for the plants. Other interests are many; natural history, particularly birding, travel, football (soccer), F1 motor racing (spectating not participating!), cinema, music, art, theatre etc ....
Cheers
Vic
