It seems to me in a forum such as this, a guide to posting picture is going to be of use to a lot of members.
This thread will attempt to be a guide to the process. If anyone has any tips or suggestions to make this guide better please feel free to post them and I will add them to the original post.
First, a quick guide to posting pictures:
(If you need more detailed instructions you will find them at the bottom of this post.)
Step 1:
First, you need to edit your pictures size to meet forum rules. Pictures should be no more then 750x750.
There are many free picture editing programs available for download.
Step 2:
Next, you need to find a spot to put your pictures on the web.
The best way to get your pictures online is to sign up for a free picture hosting service. (Do a Google search on “free picture hosting”)
After you have your pictures on the web you need to figure out what your picture’s URL is. Most free picture hosting services will provide this address.
To display your pictures in your post or reply you should type:
[ img][/img] with the URL of your picture in the middle like this:
(*NOTE: Do not put the space between the first [ and img] )
[ img]www.HostingSite.com/yourpicture.jpg[/img]
(*NOTE: Do not put the space between the first [ and img] )
You should click the preview button to make sure you did this process correctly before posting your message.
If you have any questions about this process please feel free to ask.
Now for the detailed guides:
THE DETAILED GUIDE TO RESIZING PHOTOS
Download and install the free picture editing tool located here:
www.irfanview.com/
Open the tool after installation.
Next, load the picture you want to edit by clicking on file and then open. Browse to the location your picture is located in and then double click on it.
Click on image from the menu bar across the top, and then click Resize/Resample.
Select the option on the right for 640 x 480.
Click file on the menu bar across the top and then save as.
Give the file a new name (this is so you don’t modify your original picture) and click save.
You now have a good size photo ready to be posted.
THE (VERY) DETAILED GUIDE TO HOSTING PICTURES:
Photo bucket is a very popular free picture hosting service so I will detail the entire process below. Feel free to use any picture hosting service you want. (Note: this service is not provided by the forum and these instructions were current at the time of this posting. Photobucket may change this procedure at anytime.)
Go here:
photobucket.com/register.php
Pick a user name and password and click the “next step” button.
Enter the information they ask for and click the “I accept sign me up” button.
You are now at the screen to upload files.
Click the first browse button.
In the screen that pops up you need to go to the location on your computer where the picture is stored and then click on the name of your picture file.
Click the “open” button.
You should now see your file name in the first line.
Click the “upload” button.
If a screen pops up with an option click on continue to my album, otherwise go to the next step.
You should now see a message that your picture has been uploaded and your picture will appear down on the bottom portion of the page.
Under your picture you should see a box labeled URL link with something that looks like this:
i150.photobucket.com/albums/s104/YOURUSERNAME/YOURPICTURENAME.jpg
Copy this address.
Now when you post your reply you can type [ img][/img] with the URL of your picture (the one you just copied) in the middle like this:
[ img]www.yourpictureURL.com/yourpicutre[/img]
(*NOTE: Do not put the space between the first [ and img] )
