I fill the pitchers with half strength Alaska Fish Emulsion fertilizer twice a month.
Your guess is as good as mine on what species the Sphagnum is, but thanks lol.

I like your Setup! I'll be trying something similar this summer. Is it still running good?? Still have to do water changes? Did you try that water wall or using the water for a plant or two?? And that is nice moss! Just as good as the plants

It worked great for a while until the filter broke, but while it worked it was great I did not ever make a spray bar.

Hey Clint, I remember you said before that the filter had died, but I just realized it was never clear to me why it seemed to have died relatively soon after you put it into service (or was it old already). Is this a recommendation against this filter (because it isn't very robust) or Thanks.-kby

I guess air got into it and it lost it's prime, since that happened a lot. I wasn't exactly using it as it was intended (with all of the extra hose) so maybe that was why I had priming problems. I'd say it was probably something I did or misuse.
But, I'd like to say not to try this at home and that any and all decisions and purchases (and any resulting damage of such decisions and purchases) are entirely your own doing. This is for entertainment purposes only. Can't be too careful these days.

I've also looked at the canister filters that DIY aquarium people make. Relatively cheap and you use a water pump to circulate the system. Maybe this is the way to go...?
