My wife bought me this orkid the other day . The flower growing on the plant looks a little like a Nepenthes. Is this plant carnivorous or just a impostor look alike. Its a beautiful plant. I will start digging my new bog today.

Hi Spanky! No, It's not carnivorous, and don't put it in a bog! While Paphiopedilum are terrestrial orchids, they don't like bog settings! By the way, it's Orchid and this is in the wrong area I'll move it for you, and if you want me to I can change the subject title. I would say Welcome! But I see you already introduced yourself in another thread.

Hey spanky, hold that thought for a moment please. Paphiopedilums are a decent sized genus. I bet there are over 50 of them.
Some are terrestrial while some are an epiphyte and a few are lithophytes. It's going to depend on which species you have. The cultural requirements vary wildly depending upon which Paphiopedilum you have given some can be grown outside year round depending upon where you garden.
