Hey Folks,
I just got a copy of Danser's 1928 work on Nepenthes. This is a beautifully presented work, with a new introduction by the esteemed Charles Clarke.
I'm guessing that many of you already have Danser the same way that I did, that is a 3-ring folder with a photocopy. But man, this new version is really nice. I threw out my old copy this weekend!

The volume is a nice facsimile reproduction. The line drawings have an intriguing style.
Talking of books, I read somewhere recently that there is an English translation of "Karnivoren" (Wilhelm Barthlott, Stefan Porembski, Rüdiger Seine) soon to be published. Anyone have more information?

Hello Barry . Glad to read that note. I was wondering if it would be good to get Danser's work. Guess it's a must have for a Nepenthes enthusiast like me. François.

Hey François,
Clearly, I look through Danser less frequently than I visit my copies of Clarke and other more recent resources, but any/all Nepenthes fanatics really should get a copy of Danser. So I definitely encourage you to do so!
Cheers
Barry

Hi Aiden,
I have the German version of Karnivoren from Barthlott and Porembski.
About the book; It's a good book, but not very good.
I paid Euro 49,- for it. Personally I think that's to much.
This the only book talking about Carnivorous mosses (Colura zoophaga).
There are several books that are better for less money.
Take care,
Wouter Noordeloos

Wouter - Thanks. Sadly, my affliction requires that as well as the plants themselves, I collect books about carnivorous plants too. Good, bad or indifferent, I will end up with a copy sooner or later. If publication dates are to be believed, the English translation is now slated for December '07.

Hey Aidan, I'm the same way. I also like to have the things signed, if at all possible. It was standard practice for me, in college and grad school, to have my professors sign my books for me if we used one of their penning. I would ask AFTER the semester, so the brown-nosing alarms wouldn't go off....

Barry - I suspect some difficulty may be encountered in getting the Danser facsimile signed.

Is the reprint the reason that the on line version with English translation of Arthur Lauffenburger is no longer to be found? If so, i am glad i already got it when it was there to be downloaded be everyone. Missing only 1 picture though Marcel
