Yes, I second that question! Is it watercolor? All these sketches, even vraev's, blow mine out of the water.

Hi guys
The medium I used for the N. hamata is just coloured pencils. While the N. bicalcarata is done in gouache and coloured pencil on illustration board. The original illustrations are around 40cm x 50cm in size and take around 30 hours.
At some point I'd also like to do some watercolour paintings as well, but I'm not as skilled in that medium at the moment.
Cheers Steve

Well since we are all tossing out our work for review... Here is one I did back in high school (14 years ago...)

Varun, All are just pencil on paper, not charcoal rubbed out. The one with the black background took the longest time to draw. thwyman, Very nice! I guess they weren't done from life - there wouldn't have been many N. inermis in cultivation 14 years ago. Steve, They’re wonderful drawings you do, I can well believe they took 30 hours each to complete. I think that’s about the same length of time it takes Will. He’s very impressed with your art by the way. The N. burbidgeae below is Will’s latest and took 3 days.

Hey Rob,
No not done from life. Was not even growing at the time, just grabbed a few pics from one of my CP books for art class.
Love that burbidgeae!

Hi Rob and Will
The latest illustration of the N. burbidgeae looks spectacular. The peristome came out great.
What's the next Nepenthes?
Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,
I originally thought the drawings that Will has done were yours, so I'm glad you've popped a few of your pics up there.
Hey everyone, Steve has done quite a few more drawings but I think he is a little shy about them. They are all just as good as the ones he's posted here.
If we put enough requests in I reckon he might cave in and sell a few.....
What do you think mate?
Dave.

They're great drawings Will has done. I was very impressed when I saw his work in Borneo at the Nep conference. I've also done a few myself of a couple of my favourite species. It's a pity it's so hard to find time to do more at the moment, as they make such great topics. Cheers Steve
