Hello everyone, My name is Matt and I am head over heels in love with Nepenthes! My obsession started with a small segment from Sir David Attenborough. It featured pitchers growing in fast motion coupled with cheesy sound effects, most notably when the lid opened. From that point on I was obsessed! I started out with one tiny plant, grown on a windowsill, from petflytrap.com, a ventricosa x aristolochioides. I'm now up to seven plants grown under a four bulb, T5-HO light fixture suspended from my ceiling on brackets with ratchet hangers. I have the light plugged into a digital timer to regulate my plants photoperiod, as well as a humidifier nearby (also on the timer) to keep humidity levels up during the day. Underneath my light it gets up to 86 degrees with 50% humidity, despite it currently being in the 30s outside!
