OK, This weird. A few days ago I noticed that something had eaten a hole about a third up one of my sarracenia pitchers. Not that strange in itself, but this morning, I noticed a European paper wasp crawing out of the hole. Sluggishly, as it was a cool morning. That was weird enough, but it then climbed up the outside of the pitcher, and started to lick something off the edge of the pitcher. Bit by bit it worked around, getting its body over the inside of the pitcher, and sure ennough I could see it's feet losing grip, and it fell into the pitcher, head first. It struggled a bit inside upside down, which I could watch thru the hole, but as it took so ong I went off.
Later when i came back, the wasp was still in the pitcher, right side up looking out of the hole. It's been there all day like that.

It's found the local pub. I've seen people behave exactly the same.

I think it is planning on wintering there. It has stolen coir threads from the nearby orchid pot and covered itself up.
