People have been asking me all week(actually all summer)... How they can get temperatures down in their greenhouse, grow tent, terrarium or any other spot they use to grow their highland nepenthes.
I know first hand here in Southern California, temperatures are not cooling off at night and humidity is up outside. So here is the Easiest way to get your highlanders cooled off a bit more during the evening. There is no way this is a new idea but its what I have been doing.
Depending on the size of your grow room, greenhouse, or terrarium... Find a container or multiple containers that can be filled with water and frozen.
My setup has racks and trays and is filled with primarily smaller plants, so I take a several glass tupperware containers and fill it half way with water. I literally place my trays on top of the tupperwave containers at night, remove them in the morning and pop em back in the freezer.
If you have a greenhouse, you can you a couple gallon jugs of water and place them around the greenhouse. It might be a good idea to arrange the varieties need the temperature drop more than others in an area where you can cool them down more than the rest.
In my opinion... It only takes maybe 2 hours of hitting your optimal temperature drop each night, so if you are not too far off then find some containers and freeze them.
Simple solution and depending on where you live... You won't need to worry about this in a month or so.
