I just recently purchased my first 3 carnivorous plants and im absolutely hooked. I have basically no gardening or plant experience but im pretty optimistic. my plants mostly made it threw an 8+ hour car ride except for my sarracenia plant which is looking a bit wilted and is (dormant?) but my sundew and venus fly trap are both catching and seem very healthy. Im so excited by all of this. I cant wait to see them grow!

Welcome Elinor. When Sarracenia go dormant in the fall, the pitchers do not wilt. I think the plant was water-stressed either from too much heat or lack of water.

Welcome elinor. There are a lot of growers in the Los Angeles area. You should check out the LACPS.

Hi Elinor, Greetings from Chicago, I also am new to this arena. I havn't made the push to purchase any VFT or Sundews yet, I did recently purchase two books, I'm waiting for them to come in. I am a bit afraid of purchasing any plants, because the Chicago days a re getting shorter and our winters could be rather harsh. I'm kinda thinking the transplant shock and the shortning season may not allow the plants to settle into their new environment.
